Do you still believe that Japanese cars are better than American cars as of today?

My parents always told me to never buy an American car, so I've taken that to heart regardless of whether or not it's true. I'd rather not take my chances. I drive a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta that I'm in love with. It's made me a Volkswagen fan for life. I can't see myself with another car :)
