I have a question about MRSA?

My boyfriend was noticing that his upper thigh was swelling up about 5 days ago. He then went to the health clinic where they told him that he had an infected hair follicle. He waited a day before he could get antibiotics because the pharmicies were closed. So, he took the antibiotics for 2 days and then today he went back to the clinic and they told him that they got his culture back and that he had MRSA. It is this softball sized boil on his thigh and then there is a good dinner plate ring of rose colored flesh around it. He went to the emergency room right away and he is there right now. I am sooo worried about him. Is he going to be ok? Is he going to have to have his leg amputated? How fast does that clear up?
