Will I be able to reverse the effects of chronic sleep deprivation (by getting more sleep)?

Well, I'm only 15, but for at least 2 years (so maybe not chronic sleep deprivation- but at least habitual?) I have really missed out on sleep. I've regularly gotten 4-6 hours of sleep on the weekdays, on some days 2-3. I sleep for really long on the weekend and then get only 1 or 2 hours before Monday. Since teenagers are supposed to have almost 9 hours of sleep nightly, I'm afraid I've really messed myself up. I used to be a straight A student, and I still do ok in most of my cles (although I have only 4 and 3 are easy), but in math I've just gone straight downhill since the sleep deprivation started. I make the stupidest mistakes and can never follow what the teacher is saying at all and just cannot concentrate AT ALL. So anyway, I was just wondering that if I changed my sleep habits now, would I be able to avoid any permanent, say, loss of thinking, memory, or attention? Just wondering :( Also, advice on breaking the habit?

i have been volunteering at a no kill cat shelter for the past year and have become very involved in it. i started off as just a cleaner, then i learned how to do the meds, and now i am the editor of the newsletter which is great and all, but i am saddend, the past few weeks we have been losing cats to certain types of cancer, and it seems to be happening more often. it really upsets me because they were perfectly fine, great, beautiful cats. why won't anyone take them home?even if they are older cats they still have alot of luv to give. its just not fair! i think it's that thought that makes me cry the most, the fact that the cats p away in a shelter, not a warm loving home. we volunteers do give them lots of luv and are very dedicated to them, but it's just not the same. i guess this isn't really a question, just a vent, and a request. if you don't have any other animals and you are thinking about getting one, go to a shelter adopt a special needs cat, thoat no 1 else would!

Um yeah everyone needs to exercise whether they be skinny,fat, young, or old. It helps everyone get into better shape either way. A gym really isn't that expensive but you can do cardio and callisthenics's. Basically cardio would consist of stuff like biking, running, swimming, whatever your in to. Callistenic's are like pushups, situps, jumping jacks, a combination of the two are easy ways people can stay healthy.

I was a mobil DJ for 25 years. When I started NUmark was the brand. Things have changed since. If you are working in the UK marked why not go to a radio station or club and see what kind of set up they have. It will also depend on what type of DJ you want to be. Most people use computer programs which is dangerous because if the program fails you better be able to sing good for 4 hours or so. Do a search on PC for dj equipment too. This will give you an idea. The best investment though is SPEAKERS. If you don't have good speakers then your other equipment won't mean anything. So you could use a cheap mixer and get away with it if you have good sound. I wish you the best. And start out doing parties for folks your age. Mix up the music good and try to put the same segway together, the mix of the same beat too will help you with your gigs.

When it is okay to shed this mortal coil?

First off I know I am going to get a lot of "don't do it" "Jesus loves you and so do I", "National suicide prevention line is 1-800-xxxxxxx", and what not. These answers will be disregarded. Here is my background. I served in the military about 10 years ago. I injured both my knees and shoulders. I had 1 surgery already to stabilize my shoulder with no success. My VA doctors have all said the same thing. The only thing I can do is have 2 new shoulder joints and 2 new knee joints or to live with the pain. Due to the deterioration of the bones around the joints, the multiple surgeries have a high likelihood of failure to the point of the doctors saying I am not a good candidate for the operations. I am therefore I am living in constant pain. I wake up at all hours of the night and haven't slept more than 4 or 5 hours for more than 5 years. I am currently on oxycodone, tramadol and temazepam for my pain along with tylenol and ice bags to help with the swelling. I have several doctors and orthopedic doctors saying I cannot work or even attend cles at a college. I have a permanent handicapped placard. I walk with 2 full knee braces and 2 full crutch/canes. Even so, in the VA's vast wisdom, I am only rated at 50% and currently live on just $775 per month. $775 to pay rent, utilities, and buy food for the rest of my life. I have appealed their decision 3 times to no avail. I have no family anymore (due to deaths). Due to my limited mobility and isolated lifestyle, I have no friends. I have no kids or animals to worry about. I spent most of my time resting on a couch in a sort of sitting/lying position as in my bed I hurt too much to even lie down completely. I rarely leave my apartment longer than to check my mail. When I am feeling well enough to go anywhere, I usually donate plasma to earn enough money to buy food. There are months that I have to visit a local food bank just to survive (though the street value of my medication is over $3000 per month- and no I will not sell it). I am forced into the reality that no matter what I do, I am going to be homeless soon as I can no longer afford my apartment. I am tired of the constant pain from my injuries and the reality of soon being homeless. My question is this: Would now be the time to start thinking of going out on my own terms and ending my life? I know most of the answers are going to be that I would be being selfish. What is so selfish about not wanting to be in pain, homeless and hungry? I'm not leaving anyone behind that would care anyways. I am just so tired of living in constant pain and the fear of soon becoming homeless. This is not to mention all the creditors that call because I lived a short while on credit cards (and no- I don't have the money to file for bankruptcy). Again I welcome your answers but don't try and tell me God and Jesus are going to save me or that I need to give it more time. I have given up hope on that a while ago.

What you might suggest is a compromise. . . a trim between the legs and work from there. Compromises might work. Ask her what she might want if you get what you want. You may not win but the communication may bring out what the challenges are there. So this weekend I was visiting my girlfriend down at the beach. Before we went into the lazy river at the pool I made sure to take my wallet and keys out, but completely forgot that my phone was in the other pocket. I have a question about MRSA?

My boyfriend was noticing that his upper thigh was swelling up about 5 days ago. He then went to the health clinic where they told him that he had an infected hair follicle. He waited a day before he could get antibiotics because the pharmicies were closed. So, he took the antibiotics for 2 days and then today he went back to the clinic and they told him that they got his culture back and that he had MRSA. It is this softball sized boil on his thigh and then there is a good dinner plate ring of rose colored flesh around it. He went to the emergency room right away and he is there right now. Ok so there's this waitress at the local coffee house, i'm 22 and she's 19 y.o. I see her almost every time I go there and ever since I asked her for her name she's very friendly with me, she always greets me with a smile and asks me how I'm doing. this is my problem when playing blitz chess at yahoo the time control is quite short some times i play 1 minute control meaning every second counts but those adds slow down the movement of the pieces taking precious seconds away from my game time which in more than several occasions have lead to defeat because of time up , another severe annoyance of this adds is that they make the screen jump so in quite several occasions the jumping happens right when i make my move making the piece land on a losing square . i have several examples of this situation that have happened to me i email my games almost all the time for future ysis and it certainly is frustrating that because of those adds i end up losing in won positions more than once i have lost right as im doing the check mate move . this adds are just too annoying i am most certainly not going to buy none of the stuff that they offer.

Tuning idle on Fuel injection?

I've got a 6 cyl. 1989 ford f150, fuel injected. As of recently I can't leave it without it dying. It won't idle on it's own. If I push the gas pedal ever so slightly it idles perfectly and at the right rpm. Is there a way to adjust the throttle at idle?

PAPER TRAINING...on a patio?????

I am curious if I could paper train my puppy by taking it out on the patio with paper in a certain spot(I live in an apartment)...and then when she is old enough (fully vaccinated at 14ish weeks) - start taking her outside to a specific spot for her to go potty. Would that swtich not work work okay? Would she still have the problem that sometimes happens with paper training of thinking she can go in the house? Or would the fact that I am taking her outside on a patio (it is covered though) prevent that problem?? ok, well Yesterday i was watching a movie in the living room with my mom and my best friend. (My mom and i are not close. She doesn't even know about my puberty yet from 2 years ago) anyway, my mom doesn't like it when friends text or call me past 9 even on weekends and people prank call me all the time cuz i act all gullible. So i got a prank call last night at 10(Number was RESTRICTED) and I always answer "Yeeeeeeeeessssssss??" It was a boys name who answered and it sounded familiar "Who is this?" I say "I don't know." And he says "Well if ur the person it's supposed to be, I think you're kinda cute." The entire time he and i were talking, my moms like "Who is it?!" so right after he says "Kinda cute" I say "I don't know" to my mom and hang up so she doesn't get all mad. I feel bad for hanging up on the dude and i still want to know who it was. It's not normal for someone to call me cute. How expensive is it to repair a bagpipe?

Have you contacted the pipe maker? Most will stand by their product if you haven't abused them in any way, or at least do a repair. I had a hairline crack start in my b drone. I was able to repair it by filling the crack with 'crazy glue' and using a piece of sheet rubber around the drone and securing it with a couple of hose clamps. I left the clamps on for a day and I haven't had the crack open up and it's been several years now. (ymmv) But, with a relative new set, I'd contact the maker.

As a guitarist, Mustaine by far, although both are overrated to a degree. Mustaine is a great rhythm player and a decent lead player, Kirk is a decent rhythm player and a decent lead player. As a songwriter and musician overall, Mustaine wins by a million miles IMO (even though Hammett is a bit underrated as a songwriter IMO, he has writing credits on 40 Metallica songs).

Last year I injured my neck severely and went to the ER, who referred me to this Orthopedic. My pain and symptoms were quite severe, and implied neurological problems such as shooting arm pain. I begged for an MRI and this "doctor" said I was over reacting, and that I only had a sprained neck. He gave me X-rays but not an MRI, even when I asked. He said the sprained neck can take a few weeks to a few months to heal. How can you properly diagnose a neck injury without an MRI to rule out nerve damage? Well I went back to my daily life and lived and worked with pain, because I was under the umption I had a "sprained neck" and it could take "a few months" to heal. Anyways my pain never went away and just got worst and worst, until I went to see a Neurosurgeon last month who gave me an MRI. I had 3 herniated discs, one was so bad it was compressing 60% of my spinal cord. I had to get immediatee surgery, and I am now out of work on disability. My numbness in my hand is now permanent because I waited so long to treat it, and my neck pain is possibly permanent also. I might not be able to work anymore and I'm only 24. I also live on narcotic pain meds now. Can I sue this doctor I saw last year?

That's a toughie but i'd stick with the advanced regents and try to get your grades up. I had the same situation and i'm in new york as well. i actually got my average up to an 80 something by years end. Also if you can do well on the regents exam you'll be good. My school (in WNY) had an intermediate alg and trig cl you could take junior year and then take Advanced senior year. but still if your a senior i'd stick with it.

Can a vet stop a atiel's wing feathers from growing?

No, this is not just because I don't want to trim my bird's wings! My female atiel is constantly breaking blood feathers on her wings, no matter what we do (due to night frights, cage cleaning, etc--anything that makes her flap her wings in her "amazon/african grey" sized cage). My vet has re-trimmed her wings (so that the primary feathers are shorter than the secondary so the secondary protect the "stumps"). She has inspected the follicles and all look OK. She has pulled the blood feathers that were existing. Nothing has helped for more than a week or two until she starts growing new feathers. I was just wondering if anyone had heard of some way of stopping feather growth or had any advice? Grrr!

Strange... folders are there but I can't see them.?

I use an external 1TB HDD Seagate. I have around a 100 GB of Data in folders, that I can not see at all! They are NOT hidden. I can easily see them through WinRAR. I've run all virus scans, no virus at all. Funny thing is, when I copy the folder and paste it in some drive through WinRAR, it copies, BUT IS STILL INVISIBLE! I search for the files and I get it, but why can't I see the folders? I umed that the folders were made invisible, but it's not even that. So what's the problem exactly? I drive about the same as you with an occasional long trip and usually never have any problems. This past year I did have my front brakes wear down on a 100 mile trip. I made it home, but the rotors were trashed. I would check the brakes, especially going out west. I ume at 1800 miles you will be crossing the Rockies. You will need good brakes. The waterpump can go at any time and it doesn't give a warning. All the hills will be hard on the transmission. If you plan on going soon, there will be snow in the Rockies and you might have to put chains on to make it through. That will be tough on the drive train. I would also check or change the belts and hoses. If you are really worried about your car, have you looked into renting a vehicle to make the trip?

How can I stop exam stress and crying from taking over my life?

I'm currently taking my GCSEs at the moment, and am in year 11. I took 4 GCSEs last year and got 3 A*s (french maths and textiles and an A (music). There's now a huge amount of pressure to do well this year too. I sat exams for separate sciences and thought I had done so badly that I honestly didn't believe I got a C in biology or did well in physics either. I cried for nights on end because of this and when I found out I'd got 90% in biology, 94% in physics and 100% in chemistry I was so shocked. I still get so stressed out now, and haven't been able to stop crying about the fact that I got an A for my physics coursework and not an A*. What's worse is that I know if I don't get 8 A*s and 2 As in my GCSEs I won't be happy either. I feel like my mood and well being centres around how well I do in exams, and like if it's not an A* (in most cases) it's not good enough. I would love to be a doctor when I'm older but how can I stop being so obsessed about grades?

I need help with the sound system in my car?

I have a 2000 Infiniti I30 with a factory installed 7 speaker Bose audio system, which includes a subwoofer. However, I had just recently realized that my sub is not working at all. I turn up my music but the sub is not even budging. The funny thing is that all this time I thought the sub was working. Anyways, I checked the fuses and the connection and everything seems to be fine. A friend of mine said that whoever owned the car before might've disconnected the sub so as not to hear the thump. Well, I'm hoping that's the situation so I can just connect it again. However, I'm thinking that it might be just broken and then I'll have to get a whole new sub and amp. Either way, I'd rather pay a lot less and have somebody connect it then spend $450 on a whole new system. What is your opinion? Is the sub out or is just disconnected? Any input would help, thanks.

Okay I have liked this guy for about 5 years now.
