Are Asian students who study in England now seen as the 'new Irish'?
I understand the pressure the police are under now, but remember the same pressure when I was growing up in Birmingham during the mid seventies, with the IRA bombing on the british mainland. Remember if anyone spoke with an Irish accent, they were either not talked to, or their children would be bullied at school. Also remember the economic downfall, with the three day week and unions turning Britain into a tip. We needed someone to take it out on, and in most cases it was either the Irish, or Jamaican families. Now that we have another situation of recession, and extremist muslims, either in the UK or Asia, will we be going back to the seventies in attitude, tarring all with the same brush and not questioning the actions of the police
